Sampah perlu diasingkan mulai 1 September

The Scuba Rangers Philosophy

The Scuba Rangers Philosophy

As a children’s outreach organization, Scuba Rangers has the responsibility to promote good values. To keep it simple and fun, we’ve designed a Scuba Rangers star, which defines the 5 points of a successful Scuba Ranger:

Proper Knowledge: Rangers must learn the rules of responsible diving.
Proper Skills: Rangers must learn and practice the basic scuba skills.
Proper Equipment: Rangers must learn to use basic scuba equipment, and will have to own snorkeling equipment, while learning to properly care for the equipment.
Proper Experience: Rangers should maintain diving proficiency, dive within their limits, and continue to learn more about scuba and water exploration.
Responsibility: Rangers should honor their responsibilities to their families, their community, the environment and themselves.
Try our Cuba Skuba Program a try out scuba for kids 8-12 years old at PJ Palms swimming pool every Sunday. Email buzzme@waterkids.info for bookings. More info here www.waterkids.infoBooking is essential

Scuba Rangers quality statement

Dear parents,

Your son or daughter might have shown you this webpage enthusiastically, but you might still have some questions and reservations. That is why it would be my pleasure to tell you more about the SCUBA RANGERS  Program.

SCUBA RANGERS is the children´s program of SSI- SCUBA SCHOOLS INTERNATIONAL and a program which was especially designed for children between the age of 8 and 12 years old. Until recently, younger children did not have the opportunity to be involved in a diving activity. But now, with this program, they can! However, this is only possible in a swimming pool and under professional supervision.

For more than 35 years SSI is known in the diving industry for providing high quality education and outstanding training materials for divers and snorklers of all levels.

SSI Instructors are only allowed to teach when being affiliated with an SSI Facility. This concept is unique in the industry and allows direct monitoring of all active SSI Dive Leaders to make sure that high quality education within the standards is provided.

SSI Instructors teach with proven methods using innovative training techniques so that students will enjoy the learning experience. Learning skills becomes easy and fun.

The instructors that will eventually educate your child in the swimming pool, are excellent divers who are already experienced in teaching or guiding new divers and they have taken a special training in how to teach diving to children. Furthermore, they have been fully-screened and they had to submit a certificate of good character. So you don’t need to worry about that. During the sessions and club activities, safety always comes first. That is why there will be sufficient professional supervision in relation to the number of participating children all the time.

During the activities, the children are engaged in diving, but at the same time the activities are designed to develop their social skills as well, not only by doing stuff together with other children, but also by supporting each other. And at the same time, we try to develop the children’s environmental awareness.

There are all kinds of SCUBA RANGERS education materials in different languages available, which, of course, has been especially developed for children. For example, there is a manual and an exercise book, a video, a logbook, diploma’s, etc. This supporting material is used during the sessions and activities.

The SCUBA RANGERS Program is not a diving course. Children learn in a playful but safe way to be involved in diving. It is not until they reach the age of 12 that it is possible to participate in a diving education program with one of the diving education organisations.

I hope I have been able to take away any doubts you might have had. I would like to invite you to come and have a look at a SCUBA RANGERS Club. That will give you a good impression of what we do, and how we do it. Because if you entrust us with your child, you want to be sure that it is all right!

Your SSI & SCUBA RANGERS Team!

PS: And perhaps you will get excited yourself about diving in! Unfortunately, you are (just) too old to become a member of the SCUBA RANGERS Club, but we are more than happy to give you information about your personal possibilities in becoming a diver instead with SSI.

Clearing the rusty inside me. A journey tru life.. Thaipusam

Thaipusam @ Batu Caves... I was last here around 20 years ago when I am the junior photographer at Berita Harian. They sent me here for an assignment.

But Batu Caves is never an unusual place for me. It was the training ground for me during my schooling days and during my ITM years as a noobtogs (newbie photographers) .

Why, this because, the iconic area especially during Thaipusam  give you lots of chance and training to capture moment, creative profile shooting, colors etc.

At that time, it was nothing for me to accent the 272 concrete steps but this year, it was different for me. Its a no go.

I tired to get the the first step, but with all the Kavadi Atams dancing and surrounded by thousand of Hindu devotees at the cramp area towards the steps including one Rela guy shouting to me to get out from the line, I decided to canceled my intension.

Anyway, for the noobtogs, I would suggest for you to have a try at Batu Caves during Thaipusam and capture whatever moment you encountered. Its good for a training ground for the noobtogs and for the veterans too...

A bit rusty, but I still need my training in photojournalism... forever

No caption, you interpret, you decide.

Comments and critics are most welcome.

New scuba divers, don't waste. Buy the best for a longer time

New scuba diver  used to ask me, "Bro what I have to buy first aaa..???".
I just said to them, you have the money? U buy what you want. But if you have a very ciput (tight) budget, than I would suggest you to buy the basic necessity lah.
Such as mask, fin and snorkel. For me its a very personal thing that will accustomed to your diving requirement.
And my personal best are Cressi-Sub. Used to be the dealer but the master dealer already change brand, so have to change also lah in terms of sales, but still using it for personal.
For me, mask, snorkel and fin can't beat Cressi's.
So for new divers, I can suggest to you to get a DiveTenggara Cressi starter pack.
Consist of Cressi Reaction Pro fin, Cressi Delta 1 snorkel, Cressi Occhio Plus mask and a fin bag.
Why all these? Tested and personally been using all of the items for already 3 years without any problem.

Price: RM550

Cressi Reaction Pro fin

  • Fullfoot version of the Reaction fins, the buckle-up version has met with full approval from divers.
  • The frame is moulded in three different materials, according to the Cressi patented system that guarantees surprisingly smooth and powerful kicking.
  • The blade is rather long, and has a differentiated thickness - thicker at the front end of the foot, it gets progressively thinner towards the end of the blade.
  • The wide-soled foot is very comfortable and outstandingly enveloping thanks to the extensive use of elastomers.
  • The soles are completely covered in thermo-rubber to give them an excellent grip on boat decks.
  • These fins have been designed not just for swimming and free-diving, but also for scuba diving, where they will surprise you with their fantastic performance.

Technical features :

Cressi Occhio Plus mask:

  • A mask that has been specifically designed for free diving, but which has characteristics that make it perfect for use when scuba diving too.
  • With this design the aim was to achieve an exceptionally low internal volume by maintaining a very low lens-eye distance.
  • Thanks also to the special raking of the lenses (patented), these characteristics have allowed for the widest field of vision of the entire range of Cressi masks.
  • Despite these exclusive features, the new skirt, in hypoallergenic silicone, is suitable for a large number of facial profiles.
  • The special double injection moulding process of the mask body allows for a structure that is extremely light in composite materials.
  • The buckles on the strap tilt vertically and sideways and are instantly micrometrically adjustable. They are attached to the skirt with an elastic element that offers the buckles an extraordinary range of lateral movement.
  • The position of the strap is, as a consequence, completely natural and does not deform the skirt of the mask in any way.
  • The buckles are also completely indestructible, even when completely flattened.
Who it is for

  • The minimum internal volume makes this mask ideal for deep free diving, spear fishing and for more demanding descents, but can also be used for scuba diving or even as a spare mask, thanks to the sideways tilting of the buckles and the limited space that it takes up once stowed in a jacket pocket.

Cressi Delta 1 snorkel

  • New reversible snorkel (it can be used on the right and left side), designed for snorkeling, free-diving and scuba diving.
  • The bore is made from variable section flexible material to assist swimming, and the top part is slightly bent to follow the profile of the divers head.
  • The shape of the coloured splash-top has been designed to prevent water from splashing in.
  • The purge system has an elliptical valve and is contained in a special water collection well.
  • The mouthpiece is identical to the ones mounted on Cressi regulators and can be swapped as the need may be.
  • Purge system and bore are connected by a corrugated section on the outer side only (smooth inside) that make it possible for the mouthpiece and the drainage well to drop down into a handy vertical rest position, perfect for scuba diving.
  • The mask attachment is the rapid, height adjustable clip-on.
